In the area around Porto you will be able to find some well known golf clubs. For example we have the Oporto Golf Club, the oldest golf club in Portugal, founded in 1890. This golf course is located in Espinho, and is wonderfully close to the beach. Take advantage and treat yourself to the best fish in one of the restaurants on the sea front.
In Póvoa de Varzim you will find the Estela Golfe Clube resort, an 18 hole course, opened in 1989 and considered one of the most challenging courses in Europe. Will you accept the challenge of playing some strokes there?
The Estela Golfe Clube is situated close to the sea, and golfers will be able to appreciate the beautiful sand dunes and the splendour of the Atlantic Ocean, so close by. To make the experience even more delicious, there is nothing better than going to the resort restaurant, which has typical Portuguese cuisine on the menu.
In Amarante you will also find an 18 hole course, where you will be able to play some strokes while admiring the view of the Marão and Aboboreira mountain ranges. In Ponte de Lima, Axis Golfe has 6km of vegetation. Chestnut and English oak trees fill the landscape and you can pause to appreciate magnificent views of the Lima valley and see the city of Viana do Castelo.
Trás-os-Montes also has space for golf. Vidago Palace Golfe has an 18 hole course. Constructed on rough ground, it was constructed with the aim of respecting the natural characteristics of the terrain.
Grab your golf bag and book your passage to the northern Portuguese golf courses. The landscapes, facilities and the culture and cuisine on offer will certainly make your strokes even more memorable.
